Pioneer Glazing has been selected to deliver the comprehensive high-performance façade package for the newly awarded UPMC healthcare facility in Pittsburgh, PA—a high-rise designed by HGA and constructed by the PJ Dick/Whiting Turner joint venture. Our scope includes the engineering and installation of a unitized curtain wall system, architectural metal panels, sunshades, louvers, and specialty glass and metal fins tailored to the demands of a modern medical environment. These integrated systems are designed to optimize energy efficiency, occupant comfort, and architectural presence while meeting the stringent performance requirements of a leading healthcare institution. The St. Elizabeth Hospital Cancer Care Center in Edgewood, Kentucky is a 236,000 SF oncology facility designed to provide patient-centered care in a healing, nature-inspired environment. Pioneer Glazing delivered the comprehensive high-performance façade package, integrating multiple sophisticated systems including a custom thermally-broken curtain wall to maximize natural light in infusion areas, architectural stone cladding using natural limestone, and custom metal panels for material transitions and weather protection. The facade also features specialized sunshades and trellis systems to manage solar heat gain while maintaining outdoor views. This multi-material enclosure successfully creates a serene, compassionate environment while meeting stringent healthcare performance requirements for energy efficiency and durability.
